    Mass protest against ETA

I don't know if this will interest other politics.ie members.

I have never understood why the British people and government did and do not react to Republican terrorism, in the same way that the Spanish government and people have reacted to ETA.

Because the Spanish Government are stupid enough to think that they'll win. The I.R.A and E.T.A are going to free both their countries.
I agree with the Death Penalty to show people it's wrong to kill.

Not only that, but a relatively large fraction of the IRA is on the British payroll.

So what is ETA's country? Because it sure looks like a tiny province of Spain with already significant autonomy to me, and I go there three times a year.

Well, the letters I send are addressed to Spain, the numbers I ring are in the Spanish phone book, the airport I fly into flies a Spanish flag. I think you get the drift.
And you're right, it's actually three provinces of Spain, isn't it?

Do you mean like Bilbao, Vitoria and so on? Because I call those places Spain, and so do the vast majority of the locals.
And unlike the six counties, they are a single homogenous people. It's just that most of the local Basque people I have encountered recognise that their future lies best as an autonomous constituent part of Spain, which post-Franco has offered enormous autonomy to regions like the Basque region and Catalunya.
