Israeli Soldiers admit to War Crimes

Accounts from Israeli soldiers concerning the recent invasion of Gaza have pointed to numerous instances of abuse.

The reports were published by an Israeli Military college and the army has pledged to ivestigate.

BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | Israel troops admit Gaza abuses

Among the claims are the cold blooded assassination of a palestinian women and the murder by snipers of a mother and her children who had been told to leave the house they were in.

Is there any chance the Israeli authorities will look at what really happened during its occupation or is it just a cynical attempt to deflect the whole sorry affair onto a few scapegoats?

"All the articles had one clear message," one soldier said. "We are the people of Israel, we arrived in the country almost by miracle, now we need to fight to uproot the gentiles who interfere with re-conquering the Holy Land."
"Many soldiers' feelings were that this was a war of religion," he added.
    Very similar to Hamas language.
