Alan Greenspan and the US economy

Very interesting, free, article in the economist.

Greenspan has been around for as long as I can remember. He is always viewed as a steady hand but many key indicators show thw US economy may be about to feel the pain of its own over indulgence. The simple fact there will be a new man at the fed may accelerate this breakdown due to falling confidence in markets.

I love the metaphor of the man burning his furniture believing he has found a novel means of heating his home

I'd concur with this view in The Onion.

He's irreplaceable. This Bernanke guy may be an anti-inflation fiscal conservative, but you just can't run the Fed if you've never screwed Ayn Rand.
