Excuse the sexed up title, but Croatian General Ante Gotovino, AKA, The Striker, has been arrested in the Canary Islands. A former British soldier, he is wanted for the killing of Serb civilians during the Balkan War.
More interestingly, Irish journalists have named him as a RIRA arms supplier, who personally bombed MI6, and was even named by the Herald, as the mastermind of the Northern Bank Robbery. Last media reports had him as living in a RIRA safe house in the 26 Counties. Why are Journalists in Ireland so lazy, and well,... *************************y?

I had not heard this, where are the links? I know he had been arrested but damn he was former brit soldier, that helped arm the Reals, planned the NBR and wiped out 150 Serbs. He sounds like a walking saga! I would love to read the story. Hmmm what an interesting twist! So much for Order's thoughts on the who dunnit!

Dumb, but true. He was a Northern Bank Robbery suspect, and he is going to the Hague. The Sunday Herald(9th January, by Neil Mackay) wrote an interesting piece on him, and claimed "security sources" believed he was the mastermind of the robbery. Another interesting snippet is that his Grandfather took part in the 1916 Rising. He is also blamed for the RIRA rocket attack on MI6 H.Q.

It was reported in the Balkan press several months ago that money from the Northern Bank had turned up in Croatia. The press here completely ignored the story.

Do you have any links Bogwarrior? I've just done searches on "Ante Gotovino" on yahoo, google, and BBC news, and everything that comes up (apart from the link to this thread) is in Serbo-Croat.

When you say he's a former British soldier, do you mean he was actually in the British Army, or do you mean he was a member of the Yugoslav Army who was seconded to the UK (which sounds equally unlikely, considering Yugoslavia tended to look east, not west)

I think Bogwarrior is confusing Gotovina with another character, alias Tony Cascarino, alias The Striker, who served in the Brit Army at one point, went off to Croatia to fight against the Serbs, and has since been linked with the Cokes. It's been alleged that he robbed the Northern Bank in order to help his friend Gotovina remain at large.
