The political class versus the peaceful class, as always.

Firstly look at the state of the French economy, the striking "take no ********************" attitude hasn't exactly paid them dividents thus far.

Oh yeah, blame IBEC, blame the Government, blame "big" employers but whatever you do don't lay a single strand of blame on the unions themselves. Beyond reproach they are! Give me a break, they're the victims of their own actions and good enough for them.

Remember the great SIPTU victory for the workers of Irish Ferries. How many of those sea farers involved are still working for that company? (I'll open a new thread on that issue in a few days) A national strike of French proportions will show that the workers of this country can cease to be the doormat to the empolyers in the race to the bottom.
Yes, while at the same time be the final nail in the coffin of the Irish economy, vive the revolution indeed.

How do you mean? The French economy is in quite a good position. Much better than the Irish, for one.

A better one is producers vs. non-producers.

    Congratulations to the French people.

Show those bankers and politicians if necessary the Guilotines can be dusted down and made ready.
It is the only way that the penny will drop with these avaracious trough chompers.

The French people cured the French Royal family of their greed and their neglect of the French people.

I would absolutley pin some blame on the unions for not standing up for themselves and their members and bickering internally rather than show a united front and standing up for their membership and the good of the worker.

For one? Don't you mean for now? many of their national champions are at risk of closure, they've had to slash staff and working hours and the likes of their car industry is on it's knees. They don't have the same levels of mortagate and personal debt that we do but their economy isn't really in all that better a position than ours. Striking will only pospone the inevitable and increase the height of their fall.

Sure they'd have a national strike if the price of perfume went up!

They should concentrate on doing their job!
