There'll be nowhere to run from the new world government

There is scope for debate – and innumerable newspaper quizzes – about who was the most influential public figure of the year, or which the most significant event. But there can be little doubt which word won the prize for most important adjective. 2009 was the year in which "global" swept the rest of the political lexicon into obscurity. There were "global crises" and "global challenges", the only possible resolution to which lay in "global solutions" necessitating "global agreements". Gordon Brown actually suggested something called a "global alliance" in response to climate change. (Would this be an alliance against the Axis of Extra-Terrestrials?)

Some of this was sheer hokum: when uttered by Gordon Brown, the word "global", as in "global economic crisis", meant: "It's not my fault". To the extent that the word had intelligible meaning, it also had political ramifications that were scarcely examined by those who bandied it about with such ponderous self-importance. The mere utterance of it was assumed to sweep away any consideration of what was once assumed to be the most basic principle of modern democracy: that elected national governments are responsible to their own people – that the right to govern derives from the consent of the electorate.

US Military Aggression Against Venezuela Escalating

Caracas, 20 December – Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez revealed today on his Sunday television and radio program, Aló Presidente, that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, have illegally entered Venezuela’s airspace during the past several days.

Since 2006, Washington has classified Venezuela as a nation “not fully collaborating with the war against terror”. In 2005, Venezuela was labeled by the State Department as a nation “not cooperating with counter-narcotics operations”. Despite no substantive evidence to prove such dangerous accusations, the US has utilized these classifications to justify an increase in aggression towards the Venezuelan government. In 2008, the Bush Administration attempted to place Venezuela on the list of State Sponsors of terrorism. The initiative was unsuccessful primarily because Venezuela is still a principal supplier of oil to the US. Should Washington consider Venezuela a terrorist state, all relations would be cut off, including oil supply.

How does he know it was U.S. drones? You can build your own UAVs.

    Turkmenistan-China pipeline changes energy balance

China has arrived in Central Asia. That is the unmistakeable lesson of the opening of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline on December 12 (BBC, December 14). The 1,833 kilometre pipeline, which will carry up to 40 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas, also traversing Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan before linking into China’s network in Xinjiang, was formally agreed only in April 2006. The construction of such an ambitious project in a relatively limited time-frame is a concrete demonstration of Beijing’s push to secure the region’s natural resources.

APA - Turkmenistan-China pipeline changes energy balance

China is making deals to make their energy infrastructure secure.

The US is fighting wars to (allegedly) accomplish the same thing.

What's wrong with this picture, in terms of US energy infrastructure?

    Everything.

For the second winter in a row, Bay Area residents who burn wood, fire logs and pellets on high-pollution days run the risk of earning citations and fines from local air regulators.

    Americans Are Hell-Bent on Tyranny

According to polls, Americans support torture, a violation of both US and international law, and Americans don’t mind that their government violates the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and spies on them without obtaining warrants from a court. Apparently, the brave citizens of the “sole remaining superpower” are so afraid of terrorists that they are content to give up liberty for safety, an impossible feat.

With stunning insouciance, Americans have given up the rule of law that protected their liberty. The silence of law schools and bar associations indicates that the age of liberty has passed. In short, the American people support tyranny. And that’s where they are headed.

will they wake up in time?

very good vid - even though it features that "Judas goat" slimeball Glenn Beck.
His academic equivalent, David Rothkopf, of Kissinger Associates and formerly of the Council on Foreign Relations, played his role by bringing things out in the open with his recently published book Superclass: the Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making. Here is someone deeply involved in the groups and with the people so-called conspiracy theorists criticise saying basically, "Yes the conspiracy theorists are right. There is a global power elite of a few thousand individuals who hold enormous power and influence and who are reshaping the world- but they're benevolent!" and yet it make no difference. Even open admission by the pinpointed groups makes no difference! People still think that the whole thing is a paranoid invention! You really couldn't make it up.

Clearly things are moving into plain view. As Ron Paul says in the video, a few decades ago these people never said 'New World Order' openly- now they do so all the time. If you look at those clips of leaders using the phrase it becomes quite clear that they are not referring to an extension of the neoliberal agenda. I would ask those who believe this to just try and substitute it for 'new world order' - it simply doesn't fit. Undoubtedly some leaders pick up the phrase and use it in a vague way to refer to a new era of global cooperation or whatever but there are others- such as the group from the Council on Foreign Relations and others on the video here- who are clearly referring to something specific and definite but which is not explained.
