Cheers.
Just about the media. No one controls the media entirely. But there are powerful interests at play, I'll grant you that. But they seem not to be coming from one source. Rather, there doesn't seem to be a unified voice among these elites - just massive egos. Rockefeller is left leaning. Murdoch is more conservative. And they try to exert some influence sometimes over media. And then they laugh about it all, have some expensive whiskey, and go to bed with a beautiful model. These men care about one thing and one thing only - money.
Media is brought in line in other ways. Sometimes it's simple. Like when a journalist is more sympathetic to one political party over another. Sometimes, not so simple. Newspaper Journalists rely on stories that they have to get over a 24 hr time period. Unfortunately, it is very hard to do complex socio-political and economic research in this time period. Also, they write for an audience, and something which is not of presumed interest to the audience will not make the paper.
Another thing is the press release. A Journalist will get a press release and try to find an angle on it, follow it up, and write a story which stemmed from the Press release. Hopefully it raised above the press release in that it is not a word for word copy and additional investigation has been done into the claims of the Press Release. However, you are still reporting on the issues that they want you to. Even if you expose scandal, you are still bound by the paradigm of the mainstream. Whether this is a deliberate system of control I don't know. I think that they may make for uneasy bedfellows, politics and media, and they have a precarious relationship with one another, but a relationship nonetheless.
I think the thing which sets America apart is the large interest groups on the political side of things. Another thing is the paradigm of partisan politics where everyone is forced to pick a side of the fence and stay on it. This in itself is a form of control, however an unwitting one it is.
To apply terms "left" or "right" to the Rockefellers and his fellow travellers is to fundamentally misunderstand them, their history, goals and methods. Granted Murdoch is very powerful but he doesn't even come remotely within the ambit of the kind of power possessed by the Rockefellers. Besides Murdoch is an attendee at David Rockefeller's pet inititiatives.
Left and right is a smokescreen, a pantomine to keep the masses convinced that real change happens when a new administration enters the White House. In fact there has been no major change in American foreign policy for decades. There has also been no true constitutional conservative in decades. As for Obama he is shortly due to raise the number of troops in Afghan to 100,000. Here's a true representative of the left wing, John Pilger's, assessment of him:
As for the mainstream media, it is very much controlled, and this is obvious when you look at how the Iraq invasion was treated. This is not just my own verdict but also the likes of Naom Chomsky's who wrote a book about the "manufacture of consent". Even before news reaches media outlets it is already filtered. Reuters, one of the most renowned news feeds, is owned by the Rockefellers. (Eg, did you see photos of phosphorus raining down on civilians like hailstones during the last invasion? Do a search on the Israeli settlements thread if you want to see them)October 16, 2009 "Information Clearing House" -- Barack Obama, winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, is planning another war to add to his impressive record. In Afghanistan, his agents routinely extinguish wedding parties, farmers and construction workers with weapons such as the innovative Hellfire missile, which sucks the air out of your lungs. According to the UN, 338,000 Afghan infants are dying under the Obama-led alliance, which permits only $29 per head annually to be spent on medical care.
Within weeks of his inauguration, Obama started a new war in Pakistan, causing more than a million people to flee their homes. In threatening Iran – which his secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, said she was prepared to “obliterate” – Obama lied that the Iranians were covering up a “secret nuclear facility”, knowing that it had already been reported to the International Atomic Energy Authority. In colluding with the only nuclear-armed power in the Middle East, he bribed the Palestinian Authority to suppress a UN judgment that Israel had committed crimes against humanity in its assault on Gaza – crimes made possible with US weapons whose shipment Obama secretly approved before his inauguration.

As regards Glenn Beck's specific concerns about Obama, he is off target to isolate Obama individually as the agenda is pushed forward regardless of which of the two factions of the one-party state is in power.
Both communism and fascism (he is criticised from both ends of the political spectrum which is why his critics are dismissed) are totalitarian systems and America is rapidly becoming totalitarian and arguably fascist since:
1) the merger of state and corporate power is fascist
2) Implementing warlike policies and, in particular, aggressive foreign policy, is fascist
3) Calling for a civilian national security force as poweful as the military is fascist
4) Increasing the government's capacity to monitor and spy on its own citizens is totalitarian
5) Militarising the US ("border patrols" hundreds of miles from the border, repeal of posse comitatus etc) and building hundreds of detention camps is totalitarian
6) The use of the mass media for propagandist ends is totalitarian
7) The arrogation of dictatorial powers is totalitarian (it is the office, the presidency, rather than the individual in this case which has been invested with dictatorial powers).
The elimination of the weak and vulnerable by the state is also fascist, and is something which Obama attempted to institutionalise. He backed down due to a public outcry but in fact a death panel already exists- the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research, funded by Obama's "stimulus" bill. It decides who gets treatment and one of its members is Dr Ezekiel Emanuel (brother of top White House aide, Rahm) who long advocated depriving elderly people of treatment. Another is Harvard Law professor Cass Sunstein who pushes the Orwellian concept of "Quality-Adjusted Life Years", a tool to decide whose life is worth saving.
Obama's desire to militarise civic society parallels the thought of Mussolini:
"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded as the military."
Barack Obama, July 2nd speech
"The function of a citizen and a soldier are inseparable."
Benito Mussolini
As does the merger of state and corporate power:
"Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." Benito Mussolini

"We thought we had elected an anti-war president": well that was mightily stupid of you. Anti-war American presidents don't exist. Look back at the last four decades. Maybe next time you won't be fooled by the pantomine.
Democrats in revolt over Barack Obama’s troop surge - Times OnlineBarack Obama's much-vaunted eloquence faces the biggest test of his presidential career this week when he takes to the stage at West Point military academy to explain to a nation that thought it had elected an anti-war president why he is escalating the conflict in Afghanistan.
After almost three months of agonising, nine war councils and endless leaks, the president will finally make his views known on Tuesday when he is expected to announce that he is sending about 30,000 more troops. This will push up American forces to 100,000 and the total number of allied forces to almost 140,000, as many troops as the Soviet Union had in Afghanistan.

The Fed has to do one of two things: They either have to pull $1.5 trillion out of the system by June, which would collapse the economy, or face hyperinflation. This is why the Fed has instructed banks to inform them when and how much of the TARP funds they can return. At best they can expect $300 to $400 billion plus the $200 billion the Fed already has in hand.
We believe the Fed will opt for letting the system run into hyperinflation. All signs tell us they cannot risk allowing the undertow of deflation to take over the economy. The system cannot stand such a withdrawal of funds. They also must depend on assistance from Congress in supplying a second stimulus plan. That would probably be $400 to $800 billion. A lack of such funding would send the economy and the stock market into a tailspin. Even with such funding the economy cannot expect any growth to speak of and at best a sideways movement for perhaps a year.
