    Mary Robinson criticises Israel

Mary Robinson was deeply shocked by the miserable conditions she witnessed on a recent visit to Gaza.

She criticised the Israeli blockade, saying of the Gazan victims "their whole civilisation is being destroyed, I'm not exaggerating. It's almost unbelievable that the world doesn't care while this happening."

BBC NEWS | Middle East | Gaza residents 'terribly trapped'

No American politician would dare to draw attention to the dire situation which now exists in Gaza.

Are we to believe she was unaware of the conditions when she was U.N High Commisioner.
Has she a book out soon or something?

Mary Robinson isn't worth a spit.

She should be asking the Hamas authority where they have money for weapons, missiles and ammunitions.

Well there is wrong on both sides, obviously, but it would seem that in the west it is quite ok to criticise Hamas, little muslims that they are, but woe betide you if you dare criticise Isreal!

There still seems to be a sense of persistent victimhood on behalf of the Isreali State that really needs to be overcome.

She is merely being honest. I don't have much time for her personally but saying things like this is why the US would not support another term for her as High Commissioner.

Say what you want about her but she says it as it is.

Israel,Britain and the USA cause so much hardship to countries around the World but most countries including Ireland are afraid to speak out against gross injustices like what is happening in Gaza.

Hamas's government has control over their territory, they smuggle whatever they want, they have lots of money and they use it to build missiles.

Their attacks against Israel render them an enemy. Thus Israel has the right to protect its own people. They can not complain, they started in this war!

It's about time the Israeli government took the initiative and destroy places from where they launch Qassam rockets. In addition Israel should prevent entrance of ICRC into its jails or to Israel.

And prevent NGO's coming to Gaza from Israel.
