The loss of any man in a war is a tragedy. If you feel that these people are mercenaries, then you are detaching them from their human existence. The death of any man at the hands of another is a tragedy.

It is quite obvious that he was a mercenary. He was the very definition of being a mercenary.

    RIP.

Can I ask that psycho nationalists repect the dead this time and not say that he deserved it for being in the British Army? Thank you.
Nobody deserves to die for joining an army but if you're looking for sympathy you'll find it in the dictionary between sh.it and syphyllus.

Not sympathy, just respect for the dead. From your post above, I can see that you have neither.

I don't feel he was a mercenary, he was one.

Definition of mercenary: "serving for wages in a foreign army"

Why would I respect any Irishman who joins the British, imperialist, armed forces; live or dead. Scum don't receive special absolution at death and I reject your attempts to hide behind the moral cowardice of 'respect for the dead'.
Had the two mercenaries shown respect for the Afghani dead by staying out of their country and the imperialist forces that occupy it then we woulld not be having this debate.

    Please ignore him.

The family of this young man may be reading this site and arguing with this poster will just encourage him to write even more offensive and extreme comments.

Can some moderator please pull this thread?

Even though I started the thread to show sympathy to the younf Mayo man, it has quickly descended into a shameful rant. We know that most people in the country will be sympathetic to his family.
