Islamabad Marriott Hotel Bombing: A "Horse Head" in the bed?

After weeks of complaining of US intervention in Pakistan the President Asif Ali Zardari in his speech to Parliament announces,"We will not allow Foreign forces to violate Pakistans territorial integrity in the name of fighting Terrorism", hours later a MASSIVE bomb ripped apart the Marriott Hotel killing scores of people.

The USA had threatened the Previous President Musharraf with "Being bombed back to the stone age", unless he co-operated with the USA in the War on Terror. Watch the video ALL the statements are there. Is this a "HORSE HEAD" in the bed for Pakistan?

The truck rams the gate, then there is a small explosion in the front seat, and the rear of the truck catches on fire. It is obvious that the truck is NOT the source of the 60 foot across, 30 foot deep crater or the destruction of the rest of the hotel.

Must say I did think it was odd a bomb of that apparent size did so little outside structural damage and yet the building appeared to ablaze from within?

why not, the footage just cut out as the bomb went off but i don't think its obviosu the truck couldn't be the source of the explosion.

Re: Islamabad Marriott Hotel Bombing: A "Horse Head" in the bed?

If this was a false flag op, and I wouldn't rule anything out in today's pakistan, qui bono?

My reading of the effect of the bombing is that it has bolstered Zadari's previously rhetorical position that unauthorised bombing raids on Pakistani territory by the US military (which were authorised to go ahead by the US admin back in July) is a breach of soverignty and will not be tolerated.

The Marriott hotel bomb certainly gives the impression that at least of some of the people who's soverignty has been affected by US incursions won't stand for that and will fight back. Therefore Zadari is now in no position to argue for the necessity of US strikes, so the US don't benefit from this.

And looking at the Pakistani military reaction this morning, when they fired on US helicopters, http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...breaking17.htm it is obvious Zadari if he wants to control his own military, will have to move further against US strikes in Pakistani territory. Again, qui bono from the Marriott incident?

If the truck had large amounts of petrol in drums then it would have created an immense fire ball that would have started the interior of the lobby blazing away. Given the amounts of soft furnishings in a modern hotel, it makes sense that the interior was quickly engulfed.

No. It made a crater 27 feet deep and 50 wide. So for a start the truck was not filled with drums of petrol. The speculation is that the actual target was the parliment, but extra security made approach to it within less than 1km impossible. Marriot was a second choice, and probubly not thought out.

As for the fires inside, the outside was blasted clear and all the debris, flaming and all, would have been forced deeper into the hotel.

Actually a possible correction to my post above. The Marriot may not have been a secondary target. The President, government and Military leadership were due to have dinner at the Marriot but the plans were changed at the last minute:
