    Pakistani PM 'survives attack'

Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has survived an assassination attempt, officials say.

Two bullets from an unidentified gunman hit his car as he was travelling just outside the capital, Islamabad, his press secretary told the BBC.

Mr Gilani's government is grappling with a growing threat from militants in the country.

In December former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was killed at an election rally in Rawalpindi.

I brought up a point before, how strange it was that political assasinations had almost died out when Musharraf had finally been removed. He was subject to several attempts on his life and so were members of opposition parties during the last election.

But Nawaz Sharif and the PML-Q leave the government, and bang, once again Politicians are the target of attacks.

    Coincidance?

Were any PML-Q rallies targeted during the campaign at all? I remember the PPP being targeted at least once outside of Bhutto assasination.

Nah, there were no attacks on PML-Q members.

Don't forget, PML-Q and PML-N (Nawaz) don't see eye to eye. PML-Q, or the King's Party, supported Musharraf.

Who knows who is responsible for this?

All I know is, the graffiti on the capital's walls is no longer calling for the ouster of Musharraf, but instead labelling Zardari a traitor and wife murderer, and he's not even president yet.

Sorry, I meant PML-N then in my post, Nawaz Sharifs party.

Sharif can see the writing on the wall. He is history or will be soon in the best traditions of Pakistani intercene political fighting. The PPP have alot to gripes against Sharif. If Zardari had reinstated the judges they would have got to work on prosecuting Zardari, and that would have been seen to be Sharifs work. As it is Zardari is more than happy to take over the presidency, including all the extended powers that gives him, grant himself immunity, extend the same courtesy to Musharraf and thus cement the support of the PML-Q at the next election.

The charade of multi-party democracy will go on, minus the PML-N.
