    Human Rights Violations

    http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html

    Article 13.

    (1) Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state.

    (2) Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.
    Article 30.

Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein

I live in Mandeville,Louisiana and I will not be allowed back in on Tuesday since they are closing off the entire parish of St. Tammany. Why are they allowed to violate the rights of people? No American news media is reporting this, they are just ignoring it.

They are violating human rights, isn't that a news story? The declaration of human rights does not say that your rights are not valid during a storm.

Indeed. No-one should stop you from going back to your house, even in a flood. It's not the state's job to protect you from yourself.

However, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights isn't enshrined in US law. And the fact that several rights contradict other rights is ridiculous.

But I'm sure there's a freedom of movement clause somewhere in your Constitution.
