Russian thugs attack journalists in South Ossetia

Russian "peacekeepers" showed a distinct lack of manners when these unarmed civilians drove through South Ossetia. How any of them survived is beyond me.

It's almost as if the Russians don't want people filming what's going on or something?

When the "peacekeepers" got these journalists and camera men out of the car, they proceded to beat them up. What fine gentlemen these Russian "liberators" are proving themselves to be. We're only a week into this conflict, and already Russian troops are showing their more "playfull" side.

It reminds me of the good old days in Chechnya... Oh the memories.

    "Russophobic" eh?

Sounds like another bullsh*t PC term, produced by the geniuses who came up with "Islamophobic" and other gems - all designed to silence legitimate criticism.

If I was attacked by Russian machine guns, and then pulled out of my car and beaten up, I think I'd probably be a little "Russophobic".

Concentrate on who started this slaughter and demand that they be brought to the Hague to face charges.

    Absolutely agree.

The South Ossetian separatists who attacked Georgian forces, allowed the Russian "liberators" over the border to wreak death and destruction ( blaming it on the Georgians, naturally ) and who can now be seen in Georgian cities like Gori, looting and pointing guns at journalists, should be facing war crimes charges.

Or perhaps you think the civilian casaulties are all the fault of the Georgians? After all, the Russians and their Ossetian militia would never inflict civilian casaulties in a war, would they?

Don't tell me! You think the Georgians attacked first, right? It's just a "coincidence" that the Russians had 150 tanks waiting right on the border, ready to invade from the north. It's just a "coincidence" that within minutes of the fighting, Russian helicopters were flying over Georgian territory, attacking pre-planned targets. But the Russians were taken by surprise! This wasn't a pre-planned invasion. Was it?

Why don't you read the article or have you such a closed mind? Amazing how so many people on this site are such instant experts on this obscure corner of the Caucasus. I wonder how many of yo had even heard of the place before the war began? Not many I would wager. Pat Buchanan who has long warned against the relentless baiting and humiliation of Russia has a good article here:

It does seem like the Russians have gotten out of control. Particularly bad is that they have allowed Ossetians to loot and shoot around Gori. There was an awful story on BBC2 last night about a Georgian woman and her German husband who were shot several times by Ossetian thugs. Their one year old child was also shot. Amazingly, they all survived.

I agree that this is appalling, we need order restored immediately and the Russians have to be part of that .

Once that is done we have to untwist exactly how this started, and by whom and seek to bring the people responsible to justice. It is pointless reacting to any of the rumour that is doing the rounds at the minute, most of it is so partisan as to be incredible.

Ranting on about the virtues of Georgia or Russia or the USA or the EU is pointless as there are no angels here. Clearly we have many innocent victims and clearly they need justice.

Justice must prevail and we must be seen to act fairly. A marker must be set for the future if we truely wish peace.

Unless those criticising the Russians now said similar things when the US Israeli war criminals went into Iraq and Lebannon respectively, then you are all hypocrites.
