    Russia: 'Forget' Georgian territorial integrity

"One can forget about any talk about Georgia's territorial integrity because, I believe, it is impossible to persuade South Ossetia and Abkhazia to agree with the logic that they can be forced back into the Georgian state," Lavrov told reporters.

This seems eminenetly reasonable to me. Georgia can never again be trusted ruling over these people. The Georgians are cowardly thugs. They are trying to get the rest of us to fight their revanchist battles.

What a farce was their "military" effort of the past week! Some of their heavily-armed units are still running.

I'd call them yellowbellies, except I don't want to insult the good people of Wexford.

Just as easy as persuading Chechnya to stay in Russia ;-)

I think just losing those 2 provinces is the best they can hope for. I doubt it is a done-deal that Russia will be pulling back from the rest of the country.

Perhaps, they will still formally be part of Georgia, but de facto, Georgia will have even less power over the regions than before (either completely autonomous or Russian controlled).

They wait. Build up their millitary slowly and hope for a McCain victory. Then get to the Roki tunnel close and batten down the hatches. They need decent air defences as well. The germans should be suotably chastised for their grovelling attitude to Russia and blocking georgian membership of NATO.

Are you saying ONE MORE shelling of civilians will finally bring Ossetia into Georgian "fold"? Man, you are sick!

South Ossetia was a fiefdom of corruption and Mafiosi. The georgians were right to invade on principle if not practically. Also why are there no pictures of this alledged shelling of civilians and high Ossetian casualties?

I just remind you that if we believe Georgian minister of internal affairs (I quote from memory) "Russians are bombing schools, hospitals, kindergartens". Where is at least ONE picture of "bombed Georgian school/ hospital/ kindergarden"?

Is that it? Is that all you've got? Any chance of Reuters or Associated Press photos? All I see are a couple of funerals and a few wrecked houses. I expected to see vast swathes of the city destroyed. Also the camera angles are from the ground up. If the city was flattened one would be able to show a panorama shot of destruction. Also usually after a lot of deathes there are shots of dead bodies in a morgue. How do we know the funerals shown are recent and the deaths were because of gergian shooting?
