Nope... more likely by the presence of NATO troops there.

Oh so that makes it ok to kill charity workers then. By the same logic I guess women who don't wear the hijab have only themselves to blame if they are raped I suppose?

Secondly, we are paying increased amounts for oil, the Saudis are making bigger profits and they give 1/10, according to one of the 5 pillars of Islam, to charity. Given the fact that fundamentalist Wahhabi Islam is ascendant in Saudi Arabia, many of the recipients of our oil money are charities that promote fundi brands of Islam......including the Taliban
Oh dear... Oh well... Needs explanation me thinks... The Saudis dont give 1/10 accroding to the pillars of Islam to anyone... Actually Zakat does not come in the picture at all... and the Taliban are certainly not funded by the Saudis...

The Saudis do fund some organisation to propagate the idea that they are legitimate rulers of their land according to Islam (which they are not)... Their influence is steadily reducing thruout the Muslim world considering the fact that they are staunch allies of America...

As for your oil money... a barrel of Coca Cola is still more expensive than a barrel of Oil... so enjoy it while it lasts

Dont be silly Martel... Where did I say that its ok to kill charity workers?

One more emotional outburst from you and you ll go on my ignore list... like Clanrickard and ThacOman... If you want to discuss things maintain some discipline and dont put words in the mouths of other people... I am only stating that NATO presence in Afghanistan is the reason for such hate and turmoil... Not coz Allah commmands it as Twin Tower was questioning...

    Peace

So Afghanistan was a happy and lovely place prior to the invasion? And three western women (in western dress), would have been treated with respect and love upon a chance meeting with some Taleban militia men back then?

Afghanistan has been a hateful place since Zahir Shah lost his throne, and methinks it's a bit simplistic and unreasonable to blame NATO for current woes...

This demands payback. There are more Afghans here than there are Irish in Afghanistan.

Blood for blood that's te Muslim way.

I demand that an Afghan be arrested and hanged.

Dont know about western dress since no one goes by acting that silly in Afghanistan anyway... As for what they have done in the past Googling Yvonne Ridley would be a good start...

Afghanistan has been a hateful place since Zahir Shah lost his throne, and methinks it's a bit simplistic and unreasonable to blame NATO for current woes...
Actually its not... Its not simplistic and neither unreasonable... When a certain country ends up in trouble it always the fault of a weak/tyrannical/brutal government regime that is in place on that land... This is a universal fact... The Government of Afghanistan is nothing but a puppet government being placed there by the Americans/NATO and that makes people angry... When people get angry they resort to voilence... There is nothing simplistic or unreasonable about it...

Why dont you demand that NATO troops get out of the place since their presence is obviously not doing anyone good... Unless of course you are ThacOman with a different name...

I thought the Afghan hunger strike was very funny. As soon as the teenage boys left everyone else did too!!

Did you hear about the heterosexual Afghan?

    Neither did I!!!

I don't disagree that many are unsatisfied with the current government... Though saying that, I don't think many were satisfied with the Taleban either...

You seem to be saying that you can just discount the turbulent effects the last thirty years had on that country, forget it ever happened, and say all the violence going on there today is solely down to NATO... The Taleban, Warlords, Russians etc have nothing to do with it.. that decades of war and intermittent lawlessness hasn't had any effect on the population of a country, and Afghan society has held together seamlessly through such horrors... Who did you pay to get that "Dr" before your name...
