Saw this on the indo today, the flag being raised in Beijing
which looks distinctly different to this
Aren't the colours, Green, White and Orange?

Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

I see no problem. Maybe it's my computer, or my eyes.

I could be misreading it, but we tend to see too much of the version of the flag which has a yellow rather than a proper orange panel and that image from the indo seemed more like that to me.Originally Posted by Aggressor

It could be the lighting of the photograph. The green also looks a little light.
looks like a very bright orange to me, both on screen and on paper. Maybe we;re just not used to seeing it in sunshine. Is there not internationally agreed exact shades for flags? Anwyay there are still ignorant planks who think it's green white and gold and who call themselves Irish. There's no better place to find tricolour abuse than an Irish soccer or rugby international with every shade of yellow and gold imaginable being flown
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.
I do have some issues with the tricolour. Not with it's basic political objectives of the union of Catholic and Protestant, it has to be said that Orange has come to represent more than just Protestantism. I believe that a national flag should have a deeper cultural significance reflecting the complete culture and history rather than any one political point.
In my opinion, this can only be satisfied by a flag that incorporates the harp. The tricolour could be kept in some way as a political flag. Nevertheless, it should be respected as it is the national flag. I was proud to see it displayed in so many ways in China representing athletes from north and south. It's a pity the IRFU do not give it the same respect.

Are you colour blind - The tricolour looks fine to me.
It looks like green white and apricot to me.
Abstinence makes the Church grow fondlers.
Padraig Pearse killed the tri-colour,I read in the Irish news that it was first flown and founded in Belfast in 1840 i believe by one of the last united Irishman who said one day he hoped it represent the people here.Originally Posted by Aggressor
The green white and orange colours are obviously more significant to the north than the republic.
Because the flag was hoisted after a rebellion in 1916 by a man who wanted a completely gaelic ireland, meant that it was doomed after that.
The flag flies in the republic but it lost its meaning in 1916, and it lost its chance of ever being the flag of all Ireland.
Pearse stole it from the united Irishmen, and the freestate stole it from Pearse, the IRA stole it and the ROI stole it.
