The Government plan to save € 12,700 per asylum refusal

The Department of Justice and the Gardaí have told the government that refusing asylum seekers leave to enter Ireland at ports and airports is saving the exchequer at least 12,700 for every refusal.

When I was flying out to Paris last May our flight boarded right next to where the Americans have their Immigration control checkpoint for all those boarding flights to the USA. Perfectly sensible idea IMO.

Can't understand why we don't so the same at airports and ports abroad too?

Nobody could complain about it being 'Racist' as we have to do it ourselves!

It would save us a Fortune by this account!

Isn't 12,700 euro exactly 10,000 Irish punt? 10k sounds like a very vague estimate - much more impressive to translate into euro...

Re: The Government plan to save € 12,700 per asylum refusal

The fact of the matter is that our focus in this country from the emergence of immigrant into ireland is all about how to deport them and we shift our focus away from the economy, after that we now find ourself in this situation whereby we are now winging about.

How many have we found out and realize that they're undeportable from the state ?

Example is olakunle elahanla who got deported and brought back as an asylum seeker from Nigerian whereby the then justice minister has to back down by saying on quote '' i think is about time i stop digging''.
