Sovereignty is Democracy
It'd be just desserts if he was pushed before an election.

Getting rid of Brown will solve nothingand it is inconceiveable that Labour would have a 2nd non elected PM. The problems with Labour go deeper than Brown. There is the fatigue after 10 years but also the realistation that LAbour hasn't actually changed the UK anything like as much as it could have. The UK is not fairer or more equal place then it was in 97. It is not Sweden or Norway or even France.
People in those countries are just as better off in 08 than they were in 97 just as UK people are but that doesn't mean quality of life etc is better. Blair came in on a crest and rode it - just like Bertie - and Brown was able to play with the maths. It's debatable if he was responsible for any of it.
So now people here notice all this money and were is it gone? How much has been wasted - why are homes costing 5 or 6 times salary at least and then if you get a mortgage you can't afford a pension, the schools are crap etc etc.
Brown seems to have a major personality flaw that he is a bad leader. But anyone replacing him is tainted. The bst thing is a narrow Tory win - a minority even or a Tory/Lib coalition which will do for the Liberals and the Tories if - as expected - when they do get power again they mess it up as they haven't actually changed at all. Then after a brief period in opposition to regroup and move a generation back in power.
BBC news are reporting that Labour MP Graham Stringer has called for a leadership challenge.

Fool - Brown is just the example of a certain mentality - you see it most for some reason in all the LAbour women - I don't know why but I sometimes have to turn the channel when the likes of Tessa Jowell, Harmen, Blears or even worse the repulsive Caroline Flint are on - it's somethign about the tone they use or they way they all tilt their head or something. Can't quite put my finger on it.Originally Posted by yehbut_nobut
Just changing Brown won't solve anything.
It's hard to see a real leadership challenge emerging at the moment. However, it's clear that Labour need to look seriously at the Crewe campaign, which was a calamity. From the "Tory toff" incident to choosing a candidate that got "more hugs than votes", the strategy was all wrong and needs to be improved/ altered for the future. On the issue of the Conservatives actually entering government - winning what may have been a protest vote in a by-election is vastly different from winning a mandate to govern in a general election.Originally Posted by MacCoise
