Italy posts salary details on web

There has been outrage in Italy after the outgoing government published every Italian's declared earnings and tax contributions on the internet.

The tax authority's website was inundated by people curious to know how much their neighbours, celebrities or sports stars were making.

My guess is that there is egg all over someone's face over this one! Full story here.

The question is, could anyone see it happening here?

Fook. That's horrible. A few of my friends would have egg on their faces if that happened.

The egg would go both ways, Can't think of a more mischievous assault on the Irish begrudgery and poor-mouth psyche..

Why should the rest of us be exposed to what Bertie, the cabinet, TDs and some TV personalities have to go through by having this information available for all to see?
We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don't know we don't know.

The Prodi government goes out as it came in, without a shred of decency or dignity. I hope the new government prosecutes them on whatever grounds he can find, for violating the bond of trust between the state and the people. This is really shoddy behaviour.
