County Armagh couple whose daughter died while at university in Liverpool have been told they must pay for her accommodation for the rest of the year.
The letting agent involved is claiming that because the girl's parents acted as guarantors on the lease, they are liable for the debt.

moneys all that matters these days, its only a matter of time until widows are forced to remortgage their houses because thanks to their homes being in the husbands name alone it goes to probate and that wonderfull bastion of charitable people that are the solicitors will screw them with a bill of about 20k, average.

Legally the agent is right but morally they are scum as is the landlord if he insists that they go thorugh with it.

I'd say the parents are in a tight spot legally as they are, unfortunately, within the UK jurisdiction. From what I can gather, the UK credit barrons are very aggressive in using the courts and repossession companies to get their money. This couples's misery is probably only going to be compounded. Welcome to the modern world.
