Considering this site was founded in 2003 which is only 14 years ago, the chances of anyone posting on this site 17 years ago is nil.

The IRA said the exact same thing, a war against the British.

I suggest you revisit carefully what was said at the time of the split in 1969 when the modern Ira came about.

You don't seem to know much about them beyond what you've "heard".

For example, why don't you acknowledge Irgun had very little support in Israel, and among Jews, due to their methods.

No doubt they had some small minority support, but only because Irgun came about as the very first response to nearly two decades of Arab attacks and massacres that the Jews had taken all but lying down.

From the Tel Hei, Nebi Musa and Jaffa massacres in the period 1919 to 1921. To the massacres of 1929-1936 including the Palestine riots of 1929 and 1933, and the Safed and Hebron massacres of 1929.

One of the leaders, Menachem Begin, became the Prime minister of Israel.

Have you heard of the IRA? De Valera was a member. As were many members of Ireland's early governments. The IRA, that Dev and those other members of government were members of, kidnapped and killed Irish civilians, including elderly women, on the basis that these people were colluding with the British. Dev went on to become president of Ireland.

there are 2 trouble spots in the World with the ability to go "nuclear"- Israel/Iran and US/North Korea.
All of these states need to be careful what they say and do in my opinion.

Government's have been in discussion with terrorists prior to Israel, for example the UK negotiated with the 'terrorists' and 'murder gang' in the IRA in 1921. Israel is indeed a case study in global terrorism both with regard to Paletinian groups and hardcore Zionist groups in the 1940s but they are not the centre of the universe. States don't negotiate or not negotiate with terrorists out of principle they do it out of necessity every state would prefer total victory if they could get. Given the strength of support some Palestinian groups retain either two options present themselves are negotiation or Israeli society will have come to the conclusion that perpeutal low intensity terrorism is a price worth paying to retain and expand facts on the ground.
