Which is why definitions like the one Ivo provided above have words like "especially".

But one can be harmed by being treated differently from another group without being treated worse than that group.

Sex segregating schools could be a worse policy all round than not segregating schools (that's a matter of opinion) i.e. it could theoretically be a "harmful" policy. The point is sex-segregation is not discriminatory as long as the boys and the girls are getting equal education/equally good facilities.
This is just begging the question.

Have you ever heard the phrase "separate but equal"?

Go away Toland unless you want to seriously contribute to this thread.

If the different treatment leads to harm or disadvantage vis a vis the other group, then it is harmful discrimination.

In any case in the scenario I brought up, and also in the sex segregated schools, both groups are being equally.

Equally badly. The girls are being treated badly because they are being denied the opportunity to interact with boys, and the boys are being treated badly because they are being denied the opportunity to interact with girls.

Girl do better academically (I think in other ways as well but that is more open to debate) than we do in mixed gender schools so it could be argued that your pushing for mixed gender schools is anti-female.

It's just an example. I gave you an alternative example as well.

    Not discriminatory though.
