    RE: Was Bhutto actually assassinated?

No, not a conspiracy thread, but in response to the announcement by the Pakistani Interior Ministry that Bhutto wasn't actualy struck by either a bullet or by shrapnel, but was actually killed as a result of a fractured skull sustained in the act of attempting to duck in response to the sound of gunfire. Apparently she cracked her head off the handle for opening the sun-roof of her SUV. Does this technically still count as assassination? If it were, say, a murder case in Ireland, would the shooter still be convicted of murder? I would hope so.

There is a thread already about what happened.

Read the Guardian today, they give a full seven pages to what happened and spell it out pretty well

    This thread is somewhat different.

It is an interesting question. I would have to look up the case law but my guess would be that the person would still be convicted. The intention to kill or seriously injure was formed in the mind of the assassin. The action by the assassin resulted in the victim engaging in an action that resulted in her death. I remember a case where a person used someone as a humanshield. She was killed by gunfire from the police. Person was still convicted of her murder.

Funnily enough I'm supposed to be doing some work on a related topic. Planned to start tonight. I'll give a more definitive answer later.

I Seriously doubt she would have exerted enough bodily force to be able to fracture her skull in such a confined space.

More like the force of the blast or the bullets hitting her threw her with such force into this 'handle' that it killed her.

I am astounded by the "investigation" no forensic sealing off of the crime scene, no post mortem just release the remains straight for burial. Can they be certain that just one personn was involved? How many bullets were used in the crime?
TV showed a gun on the ground, surely forensics can reconcile this to other crimes? How could this investigation be thorough or perhaps Musharref doesn't need such. I thought that this type of investigation only went on in Donegal
I know it is islamic ritual to preferably bury remains before sundown as soon as possible after the death but this is very rapid.
As far as I could find out Benazir was educated at a christian school. Should the custoum have been followed?
