This is not the Houthis on their own, they have been aided by many Sunni allies (hence why they are able to operate in Aden) - it is a popular uprising against Saudi Arabia's puppet regime.

The Yemeni 'President' has gone into hiding, most population centres are under rebel control, and he has now called in airstrikes against his own people by foreign warplanes to preserve his little regime.

If this was any other ME leader the US would be screaming from the rooftops for a No Fly Zone

Strategic location might play into it? The strait of Mandeb is a significant shipping route? Fear of another unstable country where IS can spread to?

The Saudis imported something like $8billion of military hardware last year and I guess you just run out of places to stockpile the stuff so you eventually have to start expending some of it! The risk for Saudi is that it all kicks off in their Eastern Shia province as a result.

PS I'd love to know who are the other 9 alleged coalition partners their working with.

If they send in ground troops against the Houthis, you can expect to see a lot of bodybags en route to Riyadh.

The KSA troops were slaughtered by the Houthis in 2009, more than 130 dead soldiers within 90days before they had to withdraw in humiliation.

My feeling is that the officers in the KSA are promoted on nepotism and loyalty to the regime rather than ability and hence lots of them get slaughtered despite their hardware advantage.
