    Child Rape Sentence "Pathetic"

This comes shortly after the Saudi decision to whip a rape victim and we all recall the Irish rape victim from Clare having to share the train home with her attacker.

I guess women and children are seen as no better than animals by some and especially those without the money or celebrity to have political representatives take up their cases.

    Despicable Decision

I wonder if a gang of aborgines had similarly abused one of Bradley's neighbours would she have taken the same view? I doubt it somehow.

It's quite a bewildering judgement The whole notion of the age of consent and statutory rape is that children are deemed too young to give consent of and by themselves. I don't know how this judge inferred that the girl had willingly slept with the men and, even if she did, that is still a criminal offence for them.

Australia still has massive problems with regards to its aboriginal populaiton, but I was under the impression that official sanction of this sort of racism had passed. It's a miscarriage of justice.

My apologies...they'd pleaded guilty. That makes the sentencing, or lack thereof, even worse.

    It's to be appealed.

Hopefully AG Shine will appeal, this judgment sends out the message that it's ok to rape indigeneous children. Appalling, please God the Australian social services will work to reduce the trauma this child has suffered.

Well I'm glad that it has been taken up so quickly by senior lawmakers in Australia. I hope the Judge is removed from the bench as it seems that she is not fit to hand down Judgements.

I think before we start jumping all over the Australian justice system we might start looking at our own system first. Correct me if I am wrong, but did a trial of a number of men in Donegal who has sex with a girl from the age of 12 upwards, not collapse only in the last number of months ?

Was that only a week or two ago? What happened there, I remember hearing something but then the news was pushed out due to the whole COCAINE PERIL?

I'm all for looking at ourselves before we criticise others. However, the charges against the men in Donegal weren't dropped. There was a problem with a juror. The case will go to a new trial with a new jury.
