We've been here before. The East Ghouta sarin attack from 2013 has been studied in great detail by a number of respected journalist's and experts. Their findings should give everyone pause for thought. The ballistic research from MIT is as close to a smoking gun as we are ever likely to get. Even the fiercest critics of the Assad regime would have to concede that much of the original reporting of the East Ghouta attack was widely inaccurate, unverified and the simple regurgitation of anti government activists. The truth was not rigorously investigated, the reporting was simply setting the context for war.

Four years on we have another alleged sarin attack. I think we owe it to the victims to speak out against those responsible, be it the government or someone else, from a position which does genuinely seek the truth and based on something more rigourous than facile concensus outrage.

This could be the rebels but Assad is already a mass murderer. That is what Syrians themselves tell me so I don't have to rely on CNN or the CIA or whatever. He has been more than willing to kill peaceful demonstrators and even his own soldiers if they showed any doubt at all about the cause.

It's terrible to think Assad will be in power for years to come after all these crimes.
Why would the regime or the Russians resort to chemical attacks at this time , it makes no sense at all.

The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss a suspected chemical attack in Syria that has left dozens dead, the US ambassador said.

Britain and France called for the urgent meeting following reports of the strike on a rebel-held town in northwestern Idlib province early on Tuesday.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley, who holds the council presidency this month, announced the meeting at 10 am (1400 GMT) on Wednesday to discuss the "terrible chemical weapons attack in Syria".

"We are hoping to get as much information on the Syrian attack as we can," she said.

If you are stupid enough to think rebels are filling land mines with nerve agents you are unqualified to be a journalist.

Why are so many posters involving themselves in an argument about who is right and who is in the wrong in Syria? What is wrong with Eirefolk? It seems to me that if, anywhere in the world, two flies on a wall have a fight, the average common or garden Eireperson feels a compulsive urge to reach for a pen or a microphone to explain why one of the flies is right and the other fly is wrong.

Can it be that Eire is such an ideal, happy country Eire people are bored and are just itching to get involved in other people's quarrels?

Why do Eire people preach so much at the rest of humanity? Why do they pass judgement so much on other people?

Why do non-Eire people come on an Eire website and vent their sectarian views?
    We can do that ourselves.
