Ahmedinejad has just faced protests at an Iranian university (not for the first time) from students - so not winning any popularity contests at home, poor guy![]()
But in conjunction with this rare event it seems the Presidents speech to the UN has also been subject to rare treatment at home. It seems his UN speech was censored - I kid you not, by Iranian authorities when broadcast in Iran. The reason, claimed in this article:

is that in his UN speech Ahmadinajad inferred critism of Rafsajani, now chairman of the Assembly of Experts who oversee the Ayotollah.
Given the brutality of other crackdowns on students in the recent past, are these current student protests against the President gaining official toleration from the Ayotollah? Students chanting 'Death to the Dictator!' seems to be a suicidal thing to do unless the situtaion on the ground in Iran has changed considerably.
