Ron Brown Former British Labour MP dies

I see that Ron Brown the rather eccentric former British Labour MP has died, famous for wielding the mace and threatening to use it against the minister responsible for the poll tax amongst other notorious activities.

I know he had a pretty Left wing position on things like Afghanistan and the War in Iraq, becoming a favourite punch bag of the British right wing press, but given his (reading between the lines) Scots protestant roots, WHAT WAS his position on Ireland and Irish Unity?? I can not see any reference to this in the many (surprisingly?) warm obituaries in the UK press and the blogosphere. He had at least one fan in Ireland going by this

Why cares? There is a difference between having any influence and being under the influence. He had plenty of the latter but none of the former in his days in parliament.

er sorry to rattle your pram.....just asked out of curiousity, and whilst you may not wish to know, I do, and do me the courtesy of respecting my innocent desire to ask fellow users if they know....A bit more work on the social skills needed pal.
