Ron Paul in shock second place finish.

Today it was announced that Ron Paul finished second in the south carolina straw poll.

Fred Thompson won the poll with Ron Paul second.

Ron Paul beat the media choices of McCain, Giuliani and Romney.

    Democracy alive and well!!!!

That's good news, Eyes. I don't see any mention of it yet on the internet sites.

At first glance South Carolina would not seem to be good territory for Paul, as what you might call establishment neo-conservatism has been well entrenched there. So a decent performance in SC by Paul, even if numbers are small, shows how true American conservatives, foes of big government and rash foreign interventions, may be regaining influence in the GOP.

Second place in first-past-the-post is as good as dead last. Where Ron Paul is usually found.

When Fred Thompson opens his mouth to talk Dr. Ron Paul will be FIRST.

I'm glad to see Pericles has copped on that Giuliani, McCain and Romney are all dead horses.

Er - what straw poll is this? Was it state-wide or just in one county? Anyway, could you maybe come back to us after South Carolina has had its actual primary? If Ron Paul is second in that then I will, I dunno, volunteer to listen to one of his appearances on that 9/11 conspiracy looper's radio show?

In the meantime can you tone down all the Ron Paul nonsense?

It is really funny to read comments like the one above from people who gave Ron Paul NO CHANCE of winning.

When Romney, Mccain, Giuliani , Clinton, Obama, Edwards do well in polls have you ever asked the questions you have asked above?

Those six were repeatedly mentioned over the course of an hour on FOX NEWS yesterday. In fact Edwards was mentioned the least amount of times so they talked some more about him to be "fair." (their words , not mine)

All the other candidates were disregarded.

Your choice is a media choice decided for you, and you are content with that.

My choice is Dr. Ron Paul. I decided that myself.

When the media, here and abroad "tone down " their coverage of the "chosen 6" i will tone down.

That aint gonna happen. Well you know it.

You want to be slave and pick one of six decided by the media, that is your choice.

Just dont ask me to be like you.

This may shock you - I dont live in the USA, I dont actually have a choice between the candidates running for the presidential nominations of these parties.

Anyway - what straw poll was this that you are talking about? Your post implies it was state-wide, was it? Do you have a link to the results? You seem to be very excited about it, how many people voted for your man?

The only article about this poll that I can find on Google News is one from a few days ago about how Ron Paul looked like he was going to stuff the ballots
