Why is Russia Just so Damn Awkward?

Why is it that at every UN proposal involving dealing with a rogue State, Russia is always causing a problem?
Is it just Putin playing to a domestic audience that they are not the lapdog of the US?
Or is there something more to this?

Could Russia be reverting to being a full authoritarian State and Putin recognises that he will need allies to do so such as Assad.
This thread is for discussing Russia's role in the world and where Russia is heading.

China as well, if they have any interests in the said state they will back them to the hilt. Russia sells lots of arms to Assad in Syria and that is there reason to mind him.

A deeply unpleasant man is leading Russia in a deeply unpleasant direction. Russia a thugocracy. What is worse is the EU's pussy footing around with Putin instead of combining with the US to get tough with Putin and his cronies.

Do you have any evidence of that? Or is it just a wild guess?

You are aware that the US has used it's UN Security Council veto more than probably all of the other P5 countries put together, often when dealing with 'rogue states'? Perhaps a better question would be whether the current system, including the UN Security Council, needs a rethink?

If only Russia and China and India would just do what the corporate puppets in the West instruct them what to do ?

It is an absolute disgrace !!!!

Bomb them and install Western corporate puppets and call it democracy. Long live world Piece.

You mean why doesn't Russia just roll over and let American Imperialism and Sunni Islamism take control of the Middle East and carve it up for themselves and the oil companies.

If anything, Russia and China are doing their damndest to hold back the tide of unilateral American Imperialism and its quest to enslave the planet along with their Goldman Sachs buddies who see the oil in Iran as a means to enrich themselves and enforce their sranglehold on the world economy. Syria is just been used as a staging post to defeat Iran (it has an independent Central Bank), eject Russian and Chinese influence, take control of the ME and encircle Russia and China.

This is not about democracy and human rights for the Syrian people. It never was. They are used as simple pawns in the grand imperial chess game.
