Not all religious people are automatons. Some of us judge people based on their characteristics as individuals, and not the creed they subscribe to, or not subscribe to, depending on the case. Maybe you should try that some time, instead of knee jerking upon hearing what personal beliefs any individual holds.

Mr. Angrymod, calm down. Do you always fly into a rage when someone puts forward an alternative view? My own opinion? Why not. We have relations with one bunch of nutters in Rome, why not another bunch?

What did Christ mean when he said MY Kingdom is not of this world, and render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are Gods.

Who knows. He was probably high at the time. Too much nectar of the gods, manna or something.

We should abolish the Seanad and use the money saved to create some real jobs at realistic wages for people who actually earned and deserve them.

Why not keep the Seanad and abolish salaries expenses and pensions there?

Thats not how the ''entitlement class'' operates in this country. Either way the Seanad would be used unfairly for personal advancement into the inner circle of pig troughs by someone unelected who doesn't deserve the respect and free publicity of government office any more than anyone else. Give the position any power and it's influence will be bought and sold. We don't need it . We have enough talking shop quangos . In fact we were practically governed by quangos for a decade and look what happened there.

If it could advance peace and and healing why not?

Surely the cost would be relatively small ?
