Is it time Pakistan was forced to lie in the bed it has made for itself?

Taliban intact and getting Pakistan backing, Nato report reveals - Telegraph

Whatever about the rights / wrongs or efficacy/desirability of the continued presence of the west in Afghan is it now time the nation of pakistan is finally made to lie in the bed that it has made?

It has persued a demented policy of formenting religious fervour to pacify and control its populace (create the external enemy; despotism 101) and exert power in its region. This is tearing the country and its northern neighbour apart and the entire rotting ediface continues to exist only because of the billions in aid that supports its government. The support they receive from the west is not only destructive but hypocritical as they represent a far greater immediate danger to us than does Iran.

The most satisfying short term option perhaps would be a limited invasion targeting the complete destruction of Pakistan's nuclear stockpile and capabilities and then a complete withdrawal of aid and support backed up with a promise of a huge and immediate aid package bacled with a guarantee of Indian non-agression provided they meet a number of conditions.

    1. Stop all state sponsorship of Islamic terror
    2. Reform your civic instituions and education systems (secularise)
    3. Stop interfering in Afghanistan
    4. Dismantle/reform the Pak army and the ISI

Yes, I know that's not realistic, but appeasement is not working either. The place is becoming more extreme and duplicitous; not less. What do you think should be done in light of the growing unwillingness of western institutions to pretend that Pak is our friend; whatever the Presidents and PMs say?
    All generalisations are false.

The Afghan Taliban started off in Pakistani madrassas, and Pakistan has been helping them ever since. Especially the Kunduz airlift at start of Afghan war to evacuate Taliban leadership.

It just goes to show that states founded on religious exclusivity are to nobody's benefit.
Pakistan and Israel are prime examples.

You should forward the OP to the Whitehouse Kev. They might give you a job

Tackling Pakistan and the Islamic nutters Saudi financiers would actually be proactive in the "fight against terrorism".

I won't hold my breath though.

Saudi's, but Pakistan is more than happy to host them and provide Taliban leadership and fighters with all the help and protection they need also via the ISI.

There are 57 members of the OIC, so you have plenty of scope for more "prime examples".

Pakistan is a country which has so many splinters of power that it is ungovernable. The tribal states which border Afghanistan are run by the Taliban and their sympathisers and see the Pakistan military as an army of occupation. The North West Frontier Province is yet again another autonomous region and has more in common with China than Islamabad. Karachi is a melting pot which lends its allegience to whoever can deliver most and can explode at any time.
The degree of hatred against the Americans and the British amongst the common person accross the country is at such as level that it defies belief that these countries continue the aid flow.
The fight against the Taliban can not be won and better for the West to exit Afghanistan rather than continue to build hatred and distrust in the region. The inevitable return of the Taliban will at least have the benefit of reduced poppy farming compared to the bumper crops currently being produced.

So, the Yankees are whining: "Wah, wah wah, we're not winning in Afghanistan and it's all Pakistan's fault. wah, wah, wah!"
