It was left to extremists by cowards.

The UK was not at war with the Shia population in Basra, thats how they carry on.
So in effect the UK's defence is dictated by another Country. Thats it, blame your Allies. The blighty way.

The Abrams tank is 35 years old, first rolled out in 1978. Whats your point?

Calling guys who put there lives on the lines cowards, shows you are simply full of s....
But they weren't putting their lives on the line, the whole point was they held up in bases.

The initial invasion was a success what followed was a total balls up.
Due in no small part to the yanks but also penny pinching a Battalion to create stability in a country. that was never going to being able to win fire fights meant nothing.
    But Blair had lost interest.
An updated t72 may e an uber tank but I wouldn't bet on it.
The Abrams is a good tank if you have to us logistic trail.
The chally wins battles rather than gunnery comps.
But then the Irish only have over priced Recce wagons

Should the British be in the Falklands-no. Its ludicrous on so many rational grounds but this has absolutely nothing to do with rationality after the war. If there is no gas/oil-why the hell bother from the Argentine point of view.

Except if you believe the Falkland Islanders should have the right to choose for themselves.

The reality of Britain in the 21st century is it is a service nation, no more important than little Ireland.
No longer even significant in Europe >> let alone the world.

The real picture of the bankrupt BS that for now remains propped up by London financials (that are losing influence year on year)
Youth unemployment almost as bad as Ireland.
The uk runs a estimated 4.8 trillion of national debt and counting. >> It's so big that even if every home in the UK was sold it wouldn't raise enough cash to pay it off.

In the real world >> Poland, even Romania have a more positive outlook than the uk.
    UK is fcked.
Sad for dreamers like you to accept, and easy for now to ignore >> but still true.
Islanders in the Atlantic will one day in the not too distant future >> have no choice but to choose another parent >> one with real power like Britain had for once upon a time.

They were never there to stay. Were only ever going to be fleeting visits to do a bit of peacekeeping. Also, they were invited by the locals so they were not really invasions. It's now time to move on to sort out other hotspots.Libya was a bit of a breeze and their efforts were much appreciated by the locals. The Syrians have asked them to call by to sort out a few little local difficulties but they might be double booked by the Fray Bentos brigade.Ho hum.We shall see.Exciting times indeed.
