The language of this report is pathetic:

    "James cleared out enemy positions"

"he took out an insurgent machine gunner"

    "attacking a compound"

So he didn't kill anyone. Why does he thiink he has the right to invade Afghanistan in the first place?

    Congratulations to that soldier.

At a guess, some will be okay with it, some will condemn it, many will think 'sod this life's too short' and avoid the thread.

    Did you have to ask?
As the great warrior poet Ice Cube once said, 'if the day does not require an AK, it is good.'

Would they call an Englishman in the Irish army a British soldier?

Someone in the Irish Independent should invest in a style manual.

Most will confuse the role of the individual soldier with that of the sovereign power.

Because it is a discussion forum and it is a topical issue with political overtones. I suspect that there is a lot of ambiguity out there about actions of guys like this.
