There is only one Irish Army & only those serving in it are entitled to be called "Irish Soldiers".

They're quite clear that he did in fact kill people. What's your issue with the way the article's written? Do you want everything communicated to you in monosyllables? "Green man get bright metal. He brave. He kill men"

If you're the first out the door, that's not called panicking.

very dull story to start a thread. some randomer gets a medal, who'd have thunk it.

OP is more interested getting a pavlovian anti-brit response from some posters and watching the hilarity that ensues.

Irish man by birth, British soldier by choice. He is nothing but a modern day mercenary and what's more pathetic is he is risking his life for a government that was trying to exterminate his ancestors not so long ago, the lowest of the low, pathetic.

Ireland already has troops in Afghanistan.

They are there as UN observers not in a combat role...not exactly the same thing.

yup - assuming he is taking remuneration from the BA, then yeah, he is a mercenary. AS for the OP - so what? -" English Queen decorates British soldier" - hardly front page news methinks.

Not true. They may not have a combat role but they are not UN observers.
