Which historians? Anyway, whatever answers you give will make no real difference as you'll have to somehow make it relevant to today. Whatever Burke was complaining about, if it happened at all, occurred about 250 years ago, the Mutiny was over 150 years ago. What possible relevance can any alleged crimes committed then by British/Indian forces, have to these latest allegations?Since you mention the Mutiny its worth saying that Historians now take the view that mutineer atrocities rarely included crimes of a sexual nature not so the British where it seems common place the retaking of Delhi for example saw mass rape.
