How will such an ambitious target be met anyway? Will planners be sitting in offices looking at stats and say 'Ireland is not living up to its obligations, it is only at 44%, hmmmmmmmm better direct their government to unveil a new version of TV3 with 39% more soaps'. Or better still, elect Dr James Reilly and Joan Burton as Mr and Mrs Ireland and plaster their images everywhere. That ought to turn men off women and women off men!

No I'd say your alright as of course the Catholic church doesn't consider women to be real people so more women for the straight men ye lucky things ye. Not so good for us women but I suppose we would look better with all that help from our fashionable gay friends. I really can't see any downsides to this. I've always thought this theory made the most sense too - and offers a good explanation for how being gay is a natural state. I've recently started wondering how the theory ties in with gay people having kids. I'm gay and want kids - but if I buy into the theory that gayness is natures way of controlling the population - am I going against nature by becoming a parent?

apologies for the poor translation. It's shocking that grown men(who are presumably well educated) can actually say that out loud with a straight face. I know that the Catholic hierarchy probably don't actually believe the things they say, especially this little gem. Still, it is kind of amusing to watch the catholic church slip further and further away from reality, it's car crash religion, very cringe.
