    Is the Irish left anti-Semitic?

    I was held up in town (Dublin) today (Saturday 8th June, 2007) by a rally of the lefties calling for an end to the occupation of Palestine. It was a pretty pitiful display of the usual sorts, long greasy hair and unkempt looks with clothes that didn't fit them.

    I've never seen a demo in Dublin any time that Israeli school-kids are blown to pieces on a bus by a terrorist bombing. Why is this, I wonder?

    Could it be that the protesters are anti-Semitic?

    Maybe they were protesting at the occupation of Palestine, regardless of the religion of the occupiers.

    Who mentioned religion? What has that got to do with it?

    They are not anti-semetic, they are just so far up their own holes that the only thing that can save them is a job or the onset of puberty. Of course violence against Jews doesn't matter to them- they are not interested in what actually happens, they are just trying to build up a bit of a swagger so they can get laid. Most of them are from Rathgar anyway.
    The political establishment lacks both vision and courage.

    I saw it myself today. Sounded like an islamic terrorist's funeral. In fairness they weren't protesting one recent particular event but where marking the anniversary of the war that triggered this mess. I dont think their anti-Semitic. Just anti-Israel. Or pro-Palestinian. Whichever one they say it is.

    Left-wing parties are not anti-Semitic it is Marxist-Leninist doctrine to oppose Zionism. To the hard-left Zionism is a as a form of bourgeois nationalism. While Marxism endorses self-determination, Zionism doesn’t enter into this sphere. Zionism is based on culture and not territory. Territory being the specific of self-determination…So in short they re not anti-Semitic, just anti-Zionist.

    Your own minister for foreign affairs is very sympathetic to the palestinian people. Could he be a greasy anti-semitic lefty???

    So I'd guess they're anti Islamism as well? So why don't they hold marches against Hamas or hold protests when Israeli school children are blown to pieces.

    From the latest private Eye;

    Number of countries where Amnesty International has concerns about the lack of freedom of expression in universities- 14

    Number of countries to be boycotted by the Universities and College Union- 1

    Can you guess which country this is?
