No, Israel has no desire to be ruled over by Palestinians, get it right. It much prefers to keep them in limbo, and not have to deal with its demographic nightmare, while continuing its ideological expansion. Peace is just a show, that is why Frau Merkel is so disappointed with Yahu. He pleads with Germany to act against the Palestinian security council bid, so that peace negotiations could begin, all the while planning on allowing Gilo to expand. Merkel was right to bite the head off him, and hopefully (as is rumoured), will change Germany's response to Palestinian demands.

well they are not signing up to what is on offer. They want changes, if the changes are not made then I presume they wont sign up. In the article they say that the Israelis want the PA to drop the UN bid or they wont sign up , if that is true then I would call it a precondition. what would you call it?
The Quartet is suggesting a return to the old formula, whereby Tel Aviv contines to annex Jerusalem and build on occupied land, while accusing Palestinians of not wanting peace. Has there ever been a situation where a people under occupation and active invasion are accused of not wanting peace because they refuse to surrender their homes? There is no point in talking about Gaza, the region Hamas controls is not in fact under threat of disappearing under settler homes.
This is a stupid move by the quartet, no doubt about that. In the aftermath of their failure, they suggest resetting the peace process to a point where Palestine is guarenteed to be smaller regardless of the outcome of any talks. Its frankly a disgrace.
It doesn't say that Israel wants the PA to drop the UN bid. It said it is expected.......which means we are into speculation. That would be the journalist's take on things. It also doesn't say that Israel "won't sign up" if the changes it wants aren't met.........that's not fact, just your take on things
Fight terror, support Israel!
Unlike, of course, the 1600 new homes to be built on illegally occupied Palestinian land that the Israeli government announced last week. Not exactly a gesture of peace...Originally Posted by Aristodemus

No, Netanyahu wants the Palestinians pacified, which is not exactly the same thing as peace.Originally Posted by L'Chaim
