    Israel shifting on Gaza blockade

Being mooted on Late Debate referring to this story:

JERUSALEM — After insisting all week that its blockade of Gaza was essential to its security, the Israeli government is now “exploring new ways” of supplying the coastal enclave, an official said Thursday.

    and more hints here -

Late on Thursday night, the septet forum of senior cabinet ministers met to debate what could be the first major change to the Gaza border restrictions that Israel imposed in 2007 after Hamas’s violent coup.

This is the Jerusalem Post site's take:

The navy still plans to board the next ship, which is on its way from Ireland, called the Rachel Corrie.

According to navy sources, the operation would be carried out by commandos from Flotilla 13 – also known as the Shayetet – some of whom participated in the highly criticized takeover of the Mavi Marmara this week.

The navy’s plan is expected to be quite similar to that which it used when it took control of six ships on Monday that were making their way to Gaza City’s port.

IDF sources said it was possible that activists aboard the MV Rachel Corrie would voluntarily sail to Ashdod Port, as they will be called upon to do before they would be boarded by the commandos.

There have been conversations this week between Israel and the Irish government about the Ashdod plan.

Its inevitable really . Well done to all the activists for bringing the spotlight on this and forcing Israel to change its policy . Even if the Rachel Corrie is stopped , the blockade is dead in the water .

America cannot be seen to support a terrorist state which Israel has become since the killings during the week. Turkey has walked away from Israel. The whole world has condemned their action, The barricade is going to be watered down according to some papers in America today, World pressure can be of help to the people starving in Gaza,

To be fair Turkey was always going to go its own way. Don't confuse conscience with opportunism, Erdogans ambitions for Turkeys future are not news.

"We will bring her in and put more high profile people on, as many journalists as we can, and send her with at least one support vessel," said Greta Berlin, a spokeswoman for Free Gaza. "People like Bianca Jagger have expressed an interest in the past along with others with a high profile and we will try and see if they really want to."
I don't know who to feel more sorry for the Israelis or the Gazans

Ah, he was/is an academic in UCD, far as I recall. He is the generic "Israel is great" commentator if you want "shock jock" television.
