The thing is the PS workers aren't being paid their full wages. That's why there's industrial action.

Please link to the post where I said taxi drivers have no right to protest.

The unions didn't call for higher taxes to pay for the pay cuts the private sector got, but yet we should have to pay higher taxes to keep their pay up.

Their pay should be docked for the whole day. If there not going to answer telephones in the morning and refuse to deal with the public in the afternoon, they are not fulfilling what a normal standard of employment would be. Fire them or dock their pay. Numpties.

Don't see any reason why everybody else should have to pay these guys if they are not doing any work. They can strike all they want, so long as they don't expect to be paid for it.

Fair play to them I say.

They had a contract with the Govt, the Govt ignore this contract and expect the other side to do nothing about it???
Ironic that they would have issued passports to all of the politicians on junkets for paddy's day the only ones being ********************ed over are the people who are going on holidays, emigrating etc. Gob********************es - pick on the real source of their trouble not innocent bystanders caught in this stupid crossfire.

Their wages have been cut. They are on their new full wages.

OK, you didn't say that but you did say the following which smacks of Thatcherism against this group:
Once again the taxi drivers are to bring our cities to a standstill in furtherance of their absurd demand for the state to protect them from legitimate competition.

We really need the authorities to stop treating this sort of abuse of the public with kid gloves.
Why would I try to reconcile something silly attempt you've made to put words in my mouth?
From seeing how hard you are on one group of workers, i.e. the taxi drivers who will not make a penny during their protest whilst you are so compassionate about another, i.e. the passport workers who are getting paid to not do their job.

I can't make it any clearer than that, you seem to me to regard the two groups as deserving competely different treatment.

This guy BvB is a champion of the PS but absolutely hates the rest of us. Why?.. my opinion is that he works for the PS unions.

Apparently I (like anyone who has posted a negative comment here about the PS) am on his ignore list which is nice

Well that's the set complete. Up to now I've been accused here of being a member of every party other than the PDs. Your calling be a Thatcherite is as close as I'll get.

My position is entirely consistent. You are the one who wants one group to get special treatment. You want the state to protect taxi drivers (who are self employed business people, not salaried workers)from legitimate competition. And you want taxi drivers to be permitted to block our streets with their cars thus causing huge disruption to everyone.

    Here's a consistency test for you -

Should PS workers be allowed to block the streets with their cars any time the humour strikes them?

Should there be a restriction on the number of newsagents allowed in any area?

Should passengers be allowed to ignore the meters and pay any amount they chose for taxi trips?

In the current climate a mickey mouse 16% reduction would be fantastic!..

That must be a record - I've been called a Thatcherite and Red in consecutive posts.
