Judge rules BNP's new constitution still discriminatory.

A court has ruled that the BNP's constitution still discriminates indirectly against ethnic minorities.

The Judge told the court: "I hold that the BNP are likely to commit unlawful acts of discrimination within section 1b of the Race Relations Act 1976 in the terms on which they are prepared to admit persons to membership under the 12th addition of their constitution."

An injunction was put in place ordering the BNP to comply with race equality laws, and the membership list will be closed until it does.

And yet Nick Griffin & Co say they've satisfied the laws requirements and their membership list is open and they're in the process of enrolling some 7000 new members! Assuming that the widespread accounts of the court case are correct and the BNP are in effect in breach of the court's rulling is Nick seeking to assume the role of a constitutional martyr? It would certainly raise his profile.

As much as I hate the BNP the use of a Quango to stifle democracy is not something I am comfortable with.

This amounts to political persecution IMO.

Griffin led his Party kicking and screaming into opening up his membership and spoiled the plans of the Multiculturalists who thought he would fight it out.

Hence the latest move against the BNP.

Clearly for a political Party to function with a distinct identity in a Democracy it must be able to vet its potential members to ensure they are genuine about joining and are not 'plants' or 'sleepers' who enlist to cause trouble.

Anyway this latest twist has allowed him more airtime as he was interviewed on Sky TV this afternoon

    - and I'm sure he will be delighted with all the extra publicity this 'Equality' agency has provide the BNP with!

Now no matter what one might think of Nick and his Party he did raise a very serious question in relation of the stop being put on more people joining a political Party

    - and that is one of precedence.

For its as clear as day obvious that the power and ability to organise and conduct the running of a Party in the UK has been moved away from the hands of the voters -

and into that of a Government appoined agency.

This really smacks more of something that would be implemented from Teheran than London.

Only officially approved political parties will be allowed to operate from now on it would appear.

A bad day for Democracy in these islands I'm afraid...

Nope, he just reworded the crap that led to the trouble in the first place....

The new constitution, which has yet to be published, requires would-be members to agree that they are "implacably opposed to the promotion, by any means, of integration or assimilation" that affected the UK's indigenous white population. Another clause expresses opposition to mixed-race marriages.

The problem being that, should they amend their constitution to a form that isn't discriminatory, they gain some legitimacy which the previously didn't have. One can no longer claim that they are a discriminatory group and thus nothing to be taken seriously in terms of real political discourse once it has been ruled that their constitution is not discriminatory.

Though if that does happen I'd love to see a load of ethnic minorities joining up and getting themselves elected to the board!

Well that's what a Democracy is all about

    - the right to organise a political Party and campaign at elections on the basis of you and your members political beliefs.

If you do not have the right to organise a political Party and campaign at elections on the basis of you and your members political beliefs

    - then you are not living in a Democracy!

I cannot think of anything more likely to increase the popularity of the BNP.

Well done the "Equality" and "Human Rights" Commission.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Clearly it is all down to the content of those political beliefs, and whether one has the balls to face down sundry leftists who in any event will probably change their minds next week.

The BNP has to be fairly happy. Now they have evidence that the Liberal Elites are persecuting them.
