    When the scientologists exert undue influence on Irish society then we'll talk about the abuse in their church.

    but you can carry on tutting about the "anti-catholic" rants by other posters instead of getting outraged by the behaviour of the church during all these international child abuse scandals

    No direct reference, correct.

    Enormous relevance though.

    The pope is now writing his letter to the Irish 'faithful'.

    Even the BBC World Service have made that connection.

    I can tell you it's not lost on the German media either.

    See my post above.
    And ask Toxic Avenger about his theory that child sex abuse is an especially Irish thing.

    Besides, there is a whole list of scandals affecting the catholic church that have been ignored olympically by RTE:
    Maciel;
    Von Wernich;
    Philippino and Indian clerical sex scandals;
    etc. etc. etc.

    It shows the organisation has a track record of people raping children within it.

    edit: poorly worded

    Really? Unbelievable? Were there Irish victims? Irish perpetrators? Did victims or perpetrators travel to Ireland? What makes this story newsworthy for an Irish tv station? What makes you such a good judge of what should and should not be covered?

    If it is so obviously a story that Irish tv or radio news should cover why do you think they would ignore it? Is it all a big conspiracy?

    Odd that the Catholic Church in Germany at the time used to, on papal instruction, pass on "warmest congratulations to the fuhrer in the name of the bishops and dioceses of Germany" every year on Hitlers birthday.

    Also the very first diplomatic accord undertaken by Hitler was consummated on the 8th of July 1933 and took the form of a treaty with the Vatican. In return for the Churches control over education the church ordered the Catholic Centre party to disband and ordered catholics to stop any activity against the Nazi state.

    By the way, Godwin's Law; you fail.
