I am surprised that cael has not mentioned paul Robeson, Surely the most famous black person to go to the USSR. He was treated appallingly in the US not even able to enter the theaters he was headlining through the front. However it should be obvious that the US has changed, not least because of its democratic principles as well as Brave men and woman who made their stand.
The USSR was not able to change, once its economic failure became inevitable it was finished as a regime, change meant extinction and that was the path to freedom for millions.
I am not sure what point cael is making, except that only democratic regimes can change with the power of their populations without breaking down.
Cira/rira Not in my name.
And btw, Captain Sensible, learn to spell 'lynch'.
and since the USSR entered a pact with the nazis fired the first shots of WW2 with a colonial war against finland its not in aposition to lecture others about racial tolerance

Ward: If you were a Negro, nobody would give a damn what you thought.”
Quote from Mississippi Burning 1988
How very true to life that saying is.
The blacks were not second class citizens in the USA. They were nothing.
thats very true eoin, thankfully the situation is changing by the day, with black pwoer brokers acroso the fields of politics, media and business

As Jesus said "beware authority". Whatever form of Government you choose they all screw you. Politicians should be treated the same as septic tank cleaners-necessary, but you wouldnt want the guy to come to dinner.
to be honest, most of then iwe nouldw abnt to come to dinner but I wouldnt trust them with the aul septic tank

Cael, you're citing that bastion of Capitalism - Time Magazine - as your source of information. You can't be a selective communist. Also, you spelled 'lynch' with an 'i'. We also cannot deny our history.
