I think Barak Obama is a great guy, has the potential to be a great President and I really like him. However, I can think of anything concrete he has done to justify the Nobel prize!

This really looks like the Nobel committee jumping on an international populist bandwagon, and also, giving two figers to certain conservative elements at the same time! That is not what this award is supposed to be about.

It must be a little disheartening to little known but important people all over the world who work all their lives in the cause of peace.....they are the kinds of people the Nobel Prize was supposed to recognise!

Em....so you don't actually have to achieve anything for world peace in order to win the Nobel Peace Prize?
Think I might nominate myself next year so.

After Henry Kissenger won the Peace Prize, song writer and satarist Tom Lehrer said "It was at that moment that satire died, there was nothing more to say after that."

This award was devalued long before it was making Obama look good.

I find this hard to believe

    Very unpalatable

And meanwhile you had other folk nominated for this Prize, such as fellow American Greg Mortenson who imho would be far more worthy and deserving

Disgraceful decision ... truly appalling indeed

It really does seem, at best, premature. It also seems odd to give a peace prize to the leader of a country currently at war!

Obama is presiding over 2 wars, neither of which he is stopping. how much has he cut military spending by? Well, between Kissinger, Gore and Obama I think the Nobel Peace prize has a bout the same credibility a a Blue Peter badge
