    He is upping the war in Afganistan and he's getting a "peace" prize? The peace of the grave maybe.

    The only thing I can think of is that this is more of an emotional blackmail than an award. IE "Look, you've got the highest peace honour in the world, surely you can't bomb Iran now?"

    Even so, I agree that it utterly devalues the award and was a huge mistake on the part of the Nobel committee. Particularly when you remember that the list of candidates is finalised well before the final selection, which must mean that either the rules were bent to allow Obama to win, or he was nominated when he'd only been in power a matter of a few months, if not weeks. As a poster on another blog said, if they give out Nobels for wanting to make the world a better place, surely Miss World should win every year?

    Nobel prizes have no credibility for ANYTHING anymore and haven't been credible for quite some time - shame really
