    Trevor spills Enda's beans

I was listening to the report on today's newspapers on RnaG a few minutes ago, and it seems that one of them (I'm afraid I didn't catch which one) is reporting that Trevor ("no coalition") Sargent is saying Enda Kenny asked him to sound out Sinn Féin on the possibility of their supporting a Fine Gael-led government shortly before the last general election, but that he refused to do so. It wasn't clear whether he was thinking of external support of a government by SF or about a FG-Lab-GP-SF coalition.

Apparently also reported in the Mail today.
Why vote them more of our sovereignty when they've made a bags of the sovereignty we gave them already?

    From today's Daily Mail:

" FINE Gael leader Enda Kenny was last night accused of trying to orchestrate a secret pact with Sinn Fein in an effort to become Taoiseach at the last general election. Former Green Party leader Trevor Sargent said Mr Kenny asked him to contact Sinn Fein on his behalf to see if they would support a Fine Gael-led coalition.

'Mr Kenny needed to keep his hands clean but still have Sinn Fein support him,' said Mr Sargent – who refused to make the call. The shocking claim, which is vehemently denied by Fine Gael, contrasts significantly with Mr Kenny's repeated comments this week that he 'would not be doing business' with Sinn Fein under any circumstances. However, Mr Sargent's claims were supported by a TG4 interview from April in which Mr Kenny appeared open to the prospect of working with Sinn Fein."

This is very strange, when this current patchwork government was formed, Kenny was in the Dail giving some abuse to the Greens for becoming turncoats, and Sargent stood up and said that the SF option was on the table for Kenny, but Kenny refused it, so, was Sargent telling porkies in the Dail, or is he telling porkies now?

Desperate, last ditch attack by the Greens, if FG were willing to do business with SF then they'd be in Govt now!

Let's not forget Sargent screeching across the Dail when he made a pact with the devil that Kenny should've been prepared to work with SF. How can he get away with playing it both ways.

The SF issue, simply is not an issue. The Mail keep reporting it as it was their story originally whilst FF/GP are really struggling to avoid a monumental hiding on Friday

Interesting timing by Sargent!! Would he call this "mature recollection" I wonder or is he married to FF long enough for one of those yet?

Well said, I remember this very clearly. This is nothing more than a pathetic attack from the organic carrot muncher.

Hang on secretly??? Didn't we know this was going on? Enda was convinced he could still be Taoiseach for days after the election. This is a non-story being thrown up 2 days before the election in an attempt to throw mud. That kind of thing is all over the papers today.
