Don't you think you posed more of a threat to FF/Greens when the public got to see your solemn face and hear your urgent tones every evening on RTE?

    I was at the meeting.
The first question was on the HSE. Unfortunately it's not George's focal point and so he had to wriggle his way around it. All other questions were about the economy. Lee wants a good bank, to wind down Anglo, he said that Irish Nationwide is not of systemic importance to the Irish Economy. That's what I remember. Lots of other things said and his speech was fantastic.

George I always admired you for telling it as it was in relation to the inevitability of the property bubble bursting and the disappearance of the windfall taxes so could you now let us admire you for coming up with specifics on how we can get out of this mess. Not generalisations, not what might have beens, not criticism, but what specifically has to be done George? What has to be slashed? What taxes have to increase? Specifics please George! You know like how would you plug that 19 billion shortfall?

George, why are you backing down from addressing the issue of public sector pay?

    Marc Coleman writes:

...[George recently stated that] he was opposed to any reduction in public sector pay levels. Even though the combination of ESRI research, IBEC research and comments by a range of commentators - including some respected former trade unionists - suggest that it is needed. Even though comparisons of real life situations - factory workers on 30k getting laid off while HSE officials earn more than double this in secure positions - are telling us how crazy the situation is. Like him though I do personally, after last Wednesday, George Lee stopped being an economist and became a politician.

George, would you have said 6 months ago that the public sector needs to be protected from the "shock" of a paycut?

Are you a Nazi? Would you argue that the Third Reich was an economic success story and if you would, why was it effectively bankrupt by 1938? If you would concede that the Third Reich was not an economic success story, what is the economic argument for getting further entangled in a European Union, that is increasingly resembling the Third Reich? Have you an economic argument to make, that establishing slave labour concentration camps and extermination camps in Ireland would be good for the Irish economy? If you say, you are not a Nazi, why have you decided to stand on a Fine Gael ticket?
