Young Conservatives to visit Young Fine Gael

The British Conservative Party's youth wing, Conservative Future have organised a trip to Dublin to visit their "counterparts in the Republic of Ireland," Young Fine Gael. The event is been advertised to members as a “perfect way to start your summer”.

    Any thoughts?

I have to agree with blue33. YFG meet with youth political groups from across Europe. Is there any reason why meeting with one from the Uk is so surprising?

Dave just thought he'd give the Shinners a chance to wave the West Brit stick at us..."oooh, they're talking to the Tans!"

    Where is this being advertised?

Well, it's not like Dave is the one handing over the stick. You've done that all by yourselves in arranging or agreeing to the meeting.

And as for the response about meeting with youth groups all the time, do YFG really meet with, say, communist youth groups or separatist group reps from Euskal Herria? Refusal to meet with them shows that at least some discretion is exercised in choosing to meet with others. Not that this is a bad thing, just that it means you can't pretend that you look on the Tories the same way as every other grouping, ya big West Brits ya! :P
