The Mahon Tribunal has revealed that a former Fine Gael councillor accused of corruption received unexplained payments of £98,000 over a seven-month period.
The inquiry says the money was found in accounts belonging to the late Tom Hand and his daughter, Ann, lodged between November 1992 and June 1993 and cannot be reconciled with any other accounts.
Lobbyist Frank Dunlop has testified that he gave Mr Hand £2,000 to sign a motion to rezone lands at Ballycullen while the owner of the lands, Chris Jones, has said he gave him a further £2,000 in political donations.
